Remembering Patrice Lumumba – follow-up post
After I posted a link to this New York Times editorial by Adam Hochshild commemorating the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Patrice Lumumba, the first democratically-elected leader of the DRC, I went looking for a recent interview with the author online.

This week marked the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Congolese liberation hero Patrice Lumumba, who was tortured and killed on 17 January 1961. I came across this amazing editorial reflecting on Lumumba’s legacy by Adam Hochschild, author of the must-read King Leopold’s Ghost: A Story of Greed, Terror and Heroism in Colonial Africa, in the New York Times opinion pages.
